How can coaching support a new leadership role?
Lilla Berky · Insights
As a new leader, you are learning a role, building relationships and making decisions at the same time. Coaching creates room to consider how you want to show up.
Make expectations visible
What do your manager, your team and you yourself expect? These expectations may differ. Write down your assumptions, then clarify them with the people involved. This helps distinguish real expectations from responsibilities you take on out of habit.
Choose a specific situation
Leadership development can be very practical: how you give feedback, when you delegate or how you ask for help. Starting with a recent situation, we can explore what you hoped to achieve, what happened and what you would like to try differently.
Take a small step and reflect
Choose one change for the coming week, such as a clarifying conversation or handing a decision to your team. Afterwards, notice its effect on you and others. The aim is to develop a way of leading that you can sustain and stand behind.
Let’s talk about the possibilities.
